There is a lot to love about loyalty programs. As a c-store owner, you love them because there’s the potential to increase sales and gain customer retention ship. Customers enjoy them economic for the free “points” or sales they receive. To help encourage more customers to use your program, here are a few ways to amp up your loyalty program:

Simplify – As a rule of thumb, you should be able to explain your loyalty program in a single sentence. Convenience Store Decisions states that 78% of baby boomers said they will continue to participate in a loyalty program solely based off of how easy it is to understand. In addition to simplicity, to assist in making your loyalty program stand out, think about changing the title of currency. Many brands use “points” as their currency form; get creative with what will work for your brand’s currency title!

Sign up incentive- Offering a sign-up incentive is a great way to motivate your customers to use the program. It can be as simple as offering double points or BOGO on their next purchase.

Make it mobile- mobile apps are a great way to help c-stores connect with loyal customers. Using an app will communicate promotional items, notifications, surveys and “point” tracking.

Geo-Fencing is an excellent feature to include while implementing an app. Geo-Fencing is the use of GPS location on a person’s cellular device that triggers a pop-up notification when a mobile device enters a particular area. This feature can increase sales at your c-store because the ads of the day will be directly in their hands.

Reward customer’s actions in addition to their purchases – 64% of loyalty program members want to earn rewards even for non-purchase activities such as: taking a quiz or survey on the app/website, writing a review about products and services, following social media pages, or sharing posts on social media.

It is important to remember that above all, the positive relationship between consumer and employee is what will keep them coming back. This being said, be sure to train employees to demonstrate great customer service that works hand in hand with your loyalty program.
